BLOOMSBURG — After three years of heartbreak, quarantine, and injury Canton's Camille McRoberts is going to states.
The senior ran 21:45.8 to finish ninth at the District IV, Class A girls' race during the Cross-country Championships to punch her ticket to states.
"It feels so good," said McRoberts. "I've worked for this for four years, and really put in the work over the summer. It's unbelievable."
She just missed states as a freshman, was quarantined due to Covid-19 protocols as a sophomore, and was injured as a junior last season.
The Lady Warriors took fifth as a team with 108 points. After McRoberts, Laci Niemczyk (25:26.4) was 30th, while Emmie Tymeson (26:13) came in 34th. Kali Wesneski (26:55.8) finished 38th, and Jazmyn Hickok (27:22.5) rounded out their top five in 39th.
The Canton boys were eighth overall with 199 points.
Freshman Lawrence Halbfoerster (20:17.7) led the way in 36th place, as Brayden Vroman (20:26.6) came in 38th.
Hunter Huffman (21:39.5) was 48th, Simon Wile (22:23.9) finished 51st, and Joshua Hess (22:27.3) came in 52nd.
