The Canton Varsity Boys Basketball team edged host North Penn-Mansfield, 58-56, on Wednesday, December 11.
In a back-and-forth contest, the Tigers held a 16-15 lead after the opening quarter and a 30-28 lead at the half. Canton outscored Mansfield 16-12 to start the second half to take a 44-42 lead heading into the final eight minutes of play.
Both teams scored 14 points each in the final frame, but Canton was able to hold on for the two-point victory.
Cooper Kitchen led Canton with 16 points, Isaiah Niemczyk scored 14, Caiden Williams added 9, Zach Rentzel and Ben Knapp scored 7 points each, Evan Landis chipped in 2 points, and Joel Schoonover, Reese Allen, and Cameron Bellows all scored 1 point.
Knapp and Williams both grabbed 9 rebounds, Niemczyk added 7 rebounds and 2 blocks, and Schoonover made 2 steals.
Logan Tokarz led the Tigers with 17 points.
The win improves the Warriors' record to 3-0 (1-0 NTL Small School Division). They host Wyalusing on Friday, December 23.
