A furious 4th quarter rally attempt by the Canton Varsity Boys Basketball team fell short against rival Troy on Wednesday, January 8.

After trailing 48-39 entering the final quarter of play, thanks to a 23-point 3rd quarter by the Trojans, the Warriors made a run to go for the win. Canton ended up outscoring Troy 16-11 over the final 8 minutes to get the lead back within 5 points, but thats all the closer they would get as Troy hung on for the 59-55 win.

Isaiah Niemczyk had a career night for the Warriors with 25 points and Zach Rentzel added 12 to lead the way. Caiden Williams added 6 points, Reese Allen and Ben Knapp scored 4 points each, Cooper Kitchen pitched in 3 points, and Evan Landis rounded out the scoring with 1 point.

Ty Barrett led all scorers with a game-high 28 points.

The loss drops the Warriors back to .500 at 5-5 and 1-4 in the NTL Small School Division. The team is back in action on Friday, January 10 as they host Towanda.
