The Canton Varsity Boys Basketball team won their final regular season road game at Cowanesque Valley by the final score of 64-39 on Thursday, February 6.
Their win, and Northeast Bradford's loss to North Penn-Liberty, ties the Warriors with the Panthers for 2nd place in the NTL Small School Division to earn a spot in the NTL Showdown with one regular season game remaining.
Canton led 16-10 after the 1st quarter and led 28-21 at halftime, but put the game firmly in their control on a 19-5 run in the 3rd quarter. Canton went on to outscore the Indians 36-18 in the second half.
Ben Knapp led all scorers on the night with 25 points. Zach Rentzel scored 12, Isaiah Niemczyk added 10, Evan Landis finished with 4, Brendan Matthews and Caiden Williams scored 3 points each, Joel Schoonover, Cooper Kitchen, and Tyler Jannone pitched in 2 points each, and Reese Allen rounded out the scoring with a point.
The win improves the Warriors' record to 12-9 (8-8 NTL Small School Division). The team will be back in action tomorrow night at home against rival Troy.
