Canton started their NTL wrestling season with a 40-22 over rival Athens Wednesday.
After a back and forth start the Warriors got some separation from 145 to 160, taking it from a 9-9 match to 22-9.
Then back to back falls at 189 and 215 secured the win.
Warrior Miah Lehman led things off with a fall at 120. After an Athens major decision by Mason Vanderpool at 126 Canton's Bailey Ferguson won 5-2 over Athens Jacob Courtney at 132.
Athens tied it up at 138 as Kaden Setzer scored a 26-11 technical fall in 5:10 over Austin Allen.
Then Hudson Ward, at 145, and Hayden Ward, at 152, had back to back technical falls for Canton. Hudson's was 24-8 in 5:17 while Hayden's was 15-0 in 5:10.
Then at 160 Canton’s Riley Parker held on for a 3-0 win over Athens’ Karter Rude.
Athens' Zach Stafursky won 10-3 against Canton’s Brenen Taylor at 172 to cut it to 22-12.
However, Canton's Derek Atherton-Ely and Gage Pepper scored back to back first period falls at 189 and 215 to nab the win.
Athens' Joshua Nittinger got an injury default win at 285 while Canton's Cohen Landis won by forfeit at 106.
Then, at 113, Athens' Gavin Bradley won 10-1 over Canton’s Isaac Landis.
The Warriors travel to Williamson today.
