Canton led by 21 points at one point but had to settle for a squeaker in their 52-47 win over NEB during NTL Division-II boys’ basketball action Friday.
The Warriors jumped out to a 29-8 first quarter lead as Cooper Kitchen had four 3-pointers. They watched as NEB chipped away through the next three quarters, with the Panthers taking a 46-45 lead with 2:35 left to play.
Back to back baskets by Isaiah Niemczyk down the stretch, though, propelled Canton through for the victory.
Kitchen finished with 20 points as Tyler Jannone and Caiden Williams had 10 points apiece.
Isaiah Niemczyk added eight points with Weston Bellows and Connor Foust both netting two each.
The Warriors, 3-0, now host Wellsboro Monday.
