CANTON — Canton had no problem with the pouring rain and muddy conditions as they defeated Troy 36-0 to claim the NTL Division-I title and keep the Old Shoe.
Riley Parker ran for 122 yards and three scores, while the Warrior defense held Troy to just seven total yards of offense.
Hayden Ward added 40 yards and a touchdown, as well. The Trojans turned the ball over six times, while Canton just had one, and no lost fumbles.
After a scoreless first quarter Parker punched one in from 9-yards out four seconds into the second quarter. He ran in the 2-point conversion to put Canton up 8-0.
Then, with 9:06 on the clock, Parker ran one in from four yards out. The 2-point conversion failed, but the Warriors led 14-0 at the half.
A 12-yard Parker run with 5:11 on the clock in the third quarter, followed by his 2-point conversion run, made it 22-0.
Ward scored his touchdown - a 6-yard romp - with a 1:00 left in the third. The 2-point conversion failed, but the Warriors led 28-0 with a quarter to go.
The final touchdown was a Caiden Williams blocked punt recovery in the end zone with 4:22 left to play. Parker ran in the 2-point conversion to make it a 36-0 final.
