CANTON — Canton pounded out 11 hits - including a Keri Wesneski home run - to beat CV 10-2 in District IV, Class A softball quarterfinal action.
The Indians swept the regular season series, but it was Canton taking a 4-0 lead in the first inning. They never looked back from there as they built a 6-2 lead, then scored four more runs in the bottom of the sixth to get the win.
Wesneski (3-for-4) scored twice, and had 5-RBI to go with her home run, while Molly Ward (3-for-4) had a double, three runs, and an RBI.
Emmi Ward (2-for-4) scored twice, as Katie Shay (1-for-3), Allyson Butcher (1-for-3), and Mae Kinner (1-for-3) also had hits. Butcher had 2-RBI, with Katie Shay knocking in a run, while Katie Shay, Kinner, and Rylin Graham all scored.
Jill Shay got the win, striking out three with five hits, two walks, and two runs, one of which was earned.
