TROY — Canton held Troy down defensively, and did enough offensively, to win 28-14 to retain the Old Shoe, and clinch their third straight NTL Division-I title.
Riley Parker ran for 125 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries, while Hayden Ward had 79-yards rushing and two touchdowns on eight touches. Parker also had a touchdown reception, while Bailey Ferguson was 2-for-4 for 82 yards on the day.
Canton scored three of the first four times they touched the football, with the first coming at the 11:12 mark of the first quarter on a 60-yard pass from Ferguson to Parker. Ferguson's kick made it 7-0.
Ward then had back to back touchdowns runs, the first for 27 yards with 3:04 left in the opening quarter, and the second for 24 yards with 11:41 on the clock in the second quarter. Ferguson was 1-of-2 on the PAT’s, and it was 20-0 Warriors.
Troy's Evan Woodward would get a 1-yard touchdown run to cut it to 20-7 at the half.
Woodward had a 44 yard run in the third to make it 20-14, but Canton sealed the deal with a 2-yard Parker run in the fourth. Ferguson hit Michael Davis for the two point conversion for the 28-14 final.
