Michael Davis and Ben Fitch combined for four touchdowns and nearly 200 yards of rushing as Canton defeated South Williamsport, 27-21, in a battle of unbeatens.
Davis ran for 100 yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries while Fitch had 82 yards rushing on 19 touches.
Davis opened the scoring with a 1-yard run with 7:45 left in the first quarter to make it 6-0.
In the second Fitch had a 2-yard run to pay dirt with 8:22 on the clock. Alexis McRoberts hit the point after, and it was 13-0 Warriors at the half.
A pair of 2-yard runs from Davis in the third less than a minute apart saw the Warriors open up their four score lead. McRoberts made both PATs for a 27-0 lead.
In the fourth, though, Ryan Casella began the South comeback with a 3-yard run with 11:12 on the clock. Evan Ogden’s kick made it 27-7.
Just over a minute later Tadd Lusk hit Kaiser Kistner for a 24-yard scoring strike. Ogden’s kick cut it to 27-14 with 10:03 left to play.
Dylan Scheller’s 5-yard run with 4:26 on the clock made it a one score game. Ogden’s kick was good, and South was six points from a tie ball game.
Hudson Ward added six carries for 33 yards, while Fitch was 3-for-5 for five yards through the air. Ward caught all of his passes.
