HERSHEY - Hudson Ward brought home an 8th place medal at the PIAA Wrestling Championships.

Hudson (160) went 2-3 over the three days kicking things off with a 5-2 win over Jefferson-Morgan's Chase Frameli in the quarterfinals.

In the quarters he was pinned by Girard's Story Buchanan in 5:36 but then rebounded to beat Frazier's Ryan Celaschi, 6-5, in the blood round to earn a medal spot.

In the consolation quarterfinals he lost 11-3 to Hopewell's Isiah Pisano, then fell 9-2 to Notre Dame Green Pond's Dominic Sumpolec in the seventh place match.

Lyle Vermilya (114) went 1-2 at states, losing his first match in the quarters by fall to Hamburg's Chase Homan in 5:58.

He defeated Hanover's Derek Warman, 6-3, in the first round of consolations, but lost 7-1 to Conwell Egan's Kevin Bagnell in the second round.

Holden Ward (145) went 0-2 at states, losing by fall to Montour’s Rook Smith in 5:52 in the preliminaries, then fall 9-4 to Cambridge Springs' Brody Beck in the first round of consolations.
