Kitchen Vaults Her Way To Slippery Rock University

Kendall Kitchen will keep vaulting after this spring as she signed on with Slippery Rock University to continue her athletic career.

"Slippery Rock has been on my radar for a while because they have a really good PT program, and then the opportunity to be on the track team presented itself, I knew I really wanted to go there."

Kitchen has always enjoyed flying through air since she can remember.

"When I was little I did gymnastics for quite a few years, so when I was old enough to do track my coach suggested I try pole vaulting, and I never looked back," explained Kitchen.

Last spring she made the PIAA Championships, and came up just short of a state medal.

"Last year I definitely got a taste of what states is like, and I set the goal to place this coming year," she said. "I have been going to a few indoor meets over the winter to get a head start on the season."

Kitchen plans to major in Exercise Science for Pre-Physical Therapy.
