Lady Warriors Fall To Sayre In Five Sets

Canton fell to Sayre in a five set thriller, dropping the match 3-2 during NTL Small School volleyball action Thursday.

Canton won the first set 25-21, with Sayre rallying to take the second set 25-21. The Warriors won the third 25-22, as the ‘Skins evened things up with a 25-21 fourth set win.

Sayre took the match with a 15-8 final set victory.

Tara Gilbert had 22 points, eight aces, seven kills, and 12 digs for Canton as Adelynn Cardona notched 10 points, five blocks, two kills, two aces, and four digs.

Brenna VanNoy had 27 assists, 15 points, five aces, and five digs, with Cailyn VanNoy getting 11 kills, 20 digs, eight points, one assist, and an ace.

Danah Wesneski had 14 points, three kills, three digs, two assists, and two aces, with Makenna Seachrist finishing with 10 kills, and a block.

Kaybree Kendall had a point, an assist, and 16 digs as Ashley Valera chipped in with five digs, and Emilee Walker had one point.

Sayre edged out a win over Canton in the JV match, 25-23 and 25-22.

Hannah Walters had four kills, three aces, and two digs for the Warriors as Raya Preston finished with seven assists, three kills, three digs, and two aces.

Lindley Sechrist finished with nine digs, and a kill, as Emelia Pepper notched three aces, and a dig.

Emilee Walker had three kills, Amelia Pepper notched three digs with Lexi McMurray adding two aces, and a kill.

Lydia Mead had two kills, as Jericka Strozyk and Danika Burgess had one dig apiece.
