Canton used five straight wins in the upper weights to rally past North Penn-Liberty, 36-34, in their season opener during NTL wrestling action Tuesday.
NPL built a 24-0 lead to start the match, and led 28-6 before the Warriors rallied to go up 36-28 thanks to three forfeits and two falls.
Gavin Sharp (139), Blane Wesneski (189), and Leland Pepper (215) all had falls for Canton, with Tommy Preston (152), Manuel Halbfoerster (160), and Carson Rockwell (172) each scoring forfeits.
Bryce Pequignot (121), Charles Aumick (127), Hoyt Pequignot (133), and Skyler Everetts (285) all had falls for the Mounties, as Bodhi Nickerson (114) scored a forfeit.
Canton's Owen Moore holding Bentley Chilson (145) to a 16-7 win for a major proved to be the difference in the match.
Things opened with a double forfeit at 107 then Nickerson made it 6-0 with his forfeit.
NPL followed with three straight first period falls as Bryce Pequignot pinned Carson Castle in 44 seconds, Aumick pinned Henry Proseus in 56 seconds, and Hoyt Pequignot pinned Link Vermilya in 1:44.
Sharp would get 1:57 fall over Jonah Neill to end the NPL run, followed by Chilson's win.
The Warriors started their comeback then with the three falls, followed by Wesneski’s pin over Terrell Rinebold in 2:17.
Pepper's pin over Wyatt Nybeck in 30 seconds secured the win.
In the final match Everetts pinned Uriah Talada in 55 seconds.
Canton (1-0) hosts Williamson on Wednesday for their home opener.
