A 9-run fifth inning by Sullivan County doomed Canton as they fell 13-9 in non-league baseball action Monday.
The Griffins pounded out 11 hits, while the Warriors didn’t help themselves as they had four errors in the field.
Canton led early, taking a 3-1 advantage after one, then scored another in the third for a 4-1 lead.
The Griffins battled back with three runs in the top of the fourth to knot things up only to watch Canton push two more across in the bottom half of the inning.
That's when Sullivan scored nine to go up 13-6. Canton got three back in the bottom half of the inning, but the Griffins held them in the sixth and seventh.
Reed Taylor (2-for-4) scored a run as Daniel Inman (1-for-3) had 2-RBI with two runs scored.
Trapper Burr (1-for-3) scored and drove in a run, as Brior Hartford crossed home twice. Carson Castle (1-for-4), Rylan Wesneski, and Isaiah Colton all scored, as well with Aaden Dowling droving in a run.
The Warriors went through five pitchers as Grant Jennings started, and went 3 1/3-innings with no strikeouts, no walks, five hits, and four runs, two of them earned.
Wesneski tossed an inning with three strikeouts, no walks, three hits, and four earned runs.
Taylor pitched but didn't record an out with three walks, and three earned runs.
Bailey Gardner went two-thirds of an inning with three strikeouts, two hits, and two unearned runs.
Burr pitched the final two innings with two strikeouts, and one hit.
In the first Burr reached on a dripped third strike, while Inman was hit by a pitch. Burr later scored on a passed ball for a 1-1 contest.
Taylor would draw a walk, then Canton saw Dowling get hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Inman and Taylor later scored on wild pitches for the 2-run lead.
In the third Inman was beaned again, then scored on a Dowling sacrifice fly for a 4-1 ball game.
After Sullivan tied it up Hartford was hit by a pitch, followed by Colton drawing a walk. The Griffins got two outs after that but an Inman single drove in Hartford and Colton for the 2-run lead.
Then came the big Sullivan inning.
Canton responded quickly in the bottom of the fifth as Castle was hit by a pitch, followed by back to back walks to Wesneski and Hartford. After a strikeout Burr singled in Castle, followed by Hartford and Wesneski scoring on an error off the bat of Gardner.
Sullivan got out of the inning, then survived a baseball loaded scenario in the sixth.
