Lady Warriors Fall To Rival Troy In Showdown Opener

Canton fell to Troy, 57-43, during the opening round of the NTL Showdown Girls Basketball tournament.

After a slow start that saw the two teams combine for 13 total points in the first quarter the Trojans broke out and took a 33-20 lead at the half.

They led by as many as 23 points midway through the third, but an 11-0 Canton run saw them cut it to 12 halfway through the fourth.

Troy responded with a 5-0 spurt after that to effectively secure the win.

Cailyn Van Noy had 20 points, eight boards, four steals, and three assists to lead Canton, with Stella Rockwell adding 10 points, and five rebounds.

Daveian Crowley had seven points, and 10 boards, as Cheyenne Fitch added four points.

Alexis McRoberts had two points, and 10 boards, with Danah Wesneski getting three steals.
