Warriors Drop 36-35 Heartbreaking Loss To Sayre

Canton rallied in the fourth but came up just short of Sayre, 36-35, during NTL boys' hoops action Thursday.

The Warriors were down 22-19 going into the final frame, where they out scored Sayre 16-14, but came up just short.

Monte Whitehead had a career high 20 points to lead Canton, as Kix Carr netted 10.

Ryder Route, and Cooper Jennings each had two, with Jack Whitehead adding one.

Declan Barry had 12 points to lead Sayre.

It was 6-6 after one with Whitehead netting five of his team's points.

Canton would take a 15-13 lead in the second behind four points from Whitehead, and three out of Carr.

Sayre rallied in the third, out scoring Canton 9-4 to take the three point lead into the fourth.

In the final frame Whitehead went off for 10 while Carr had four, but it wasn't enough as Barry had seven points to pace Sayre to the win.

Canton (0-11) will travel to Sayre on Saturday with a 2:30 p.m. start.
